Project 4 Revitalization of the Arganzuela Greenhouse
Work is underway on the project to revitalize the Arganzuela greenhouse, titled: Relationship. Study to Revitalize the Greenhouse or the “Arganzuela Crystal Palace” by altering its uses and the atmosphere of the space”
The botanical garden, in its “use,” addresses the botanical value of the place, care, and education about plants without addressing the enjoyment and aesthetics that a “garden” implies. Consequently, I propose the use of the space as one of relationship in its distinct meanings: relationship, reflection, rest, and recreation. The relationship will provide an “added use” that “gives rise” to the enjoyment of the space as a place for personal growth. Four simple operations alter the space to “give rise“: adding, removing, moving, and transforming. The working method I propose follows two simultaneous steps. One, intervening in the place through minimal interventions with major results, aiming for aesthetic variations to produce a state of well-being. And two, designing situations or personal confluences (something seems to happen naturally but is, in fact, orchestrated).
