Visual and textual storytelling workshop. I will guide participants through a drawing and writing exercise: starting from a news item, I teach how to create a drawing and a story that possess both emotional and argumentative content. I will share my artistic process with the participants, which helps me process the disturbing events of daily life.
One of the techniques I introduce is drawing with closed eyes and automatic writing, thus combining doodling with essayistic writing to produce a sort of essayistic poetry.
A clue: isolating and combining automatic writing with organized writing, doodling, and figurative representation is a storytelling methodology that contains both informative and emotional content. This is comparable to isolating muscles when working out: while some muscles are relaxed, others are working, and this isolation is crucial for achieving full concentration and awareness. When deep, precise observation is applied, writing or drawing becomes possible for everyone.
